ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮನ ಕಗ್ಗ ೨

ಜೀವ ಜಡ ರೂಪ ಪ್ರಪಂಚವನದಾವುದೋ |
ಆವರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡುಮೊಳನೆರೆದುಮಿಹುದಂತೆ ||
ಭಾವಕೊಳಪಡದಂತೆ ಅಳತೆಗಳವಡದಂತೆ |
ಆ ವಿಶೇಷಕೆ ಮಣಿಯೊ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ || ೨ ||

2: It seems, that some entity occupies the entirety of the living and non-living world. It seems that it is beyond emotions and measurements. Oh Mankutimma! Bow before that wonder.

Notes:
Here, the poet, D V Gundappa, begins with the first possible description of the entity commonly referred to as God. He says that the entire universe is occupied by it and that it is beyond our senses, emotions and is infinite. He explains further in later stanzas by raising questions and answering them.
